You don't need a perfect log. Honest beats perfect every time a storm comes. Paper on the chart table beats good intentions in the head — and the whole standard for an entry is that it only has to be true.

The Chart Update — what changed in the last twelve months?
Harbors opened. Channels silted. Storms hit. Customers shifted. Crew changes. If it's not recorded, it didn't happen — memory edits the uncomfortable parts, and the log doesn't.

The Horizon Read — what do you see ahead?
New water? Rough water? A Passage forming? And the harder half of the question: what are the instruments telling you that you might be ignoring because you don't want to see what it says? There's always at least one. Write that one down first.

The Decision — which harbor gets dredged first, and why that one?
One harbor. One element inside it. One week. Not a transformation program — a single, dated, finishable piece of work. The harbor you're avoiding is allowed to be the one you pick. It usually should be.
